i filled my DS's latest concerta 18mg on friday, but now doc says lets up to 27mg due to reappearance of symptoms this sat/sun/mon. however, he said i might have a problem with the pharmacy since it's a controlled substance and they don't want a lot of it out there....
...has anyone ever had a problem like this? will i have to turn in the remaining 18mg to the pharm in order to get the new 27mg?
thanks.
It won't be a problem. It's a new presciption at a new dosage. I've done the same thing with both Ritalin and Focalin for my son, and I'm sure most people whose child takes meds has had to as well.
I don't think you will have a problem. We filled a prescription for Daytrana and very shortly after filling it, decided to go back to Concerta. My pharmacy has never had me turn back in items we haven't used.
good, good, good. my doctor is really worried...he's only prescribing 2 weeks worth at the higher dose so the pharm doesn't give me a hard time.
this is a relief...
Oh my! After 4 1/2 years I have a regular pharmacy of medications- mostly controlled substances, that my son no longer takes. I asked the pharmacist if he would take them back to properly dispose of them and he said that controlled substances can not be taken back or donated. He suggested I flush the 100's and 100's of capsules. So, don't worry, you will be able to get the different prescription. They actually can be donated in my state, to a Major University Hospital, but that is the only place I know of. okay, randyjim you just gave me my first good laugh all weekend. thanks so much.My son would change overnight. As long as the mg is changing, the insurance will cover it. I have personally experienced it. The only trouble would be if you were looking to refill the SAME doseage in less than 30 days.
