well we finally made it. it was a VERY long drive. We finally got here after hitting a bird with my van, a guy lost a plastic shelf out of his truck on the interstate hitting my van, then 32 miles from having to turn my gps quit working.
now we are all starving. my laptop is dead, so i have it plugged in going to eat. will check back later. i hope. hahaha.
wow we are exhausted. lol we have done mgm i wasn't all that impressed with it. we are heading to epcot in a little bit, our main goal is to let the kids visit the countries. :) tomorrow we will be hitting animal kingdom in the morning and after a couple hours hitting magic kingdom for the rest of the day/night. Then we may end up stayin an extra day and taking the kids to coacoa beach friday. :) i'm trying to upload pics from today. trent got to see handy manny and oh boy was he ever excited. it was kinda a rough day, we didn't give him his meds so that he could be "FREE" so to speak. needless to say we wont do that tomorrow. he was miserable himself. you could tell he was trying so hard to control himself and he just couldn't. so i don't want to do that to him again. Hi- you are blessed to be able to take a vacation with your family. If your son is on stimulant meds then stopping them for a day or two makes them go into withdrawal and they feel more out of control. Have fun tomorrow and hopefully you all will, also.ENJOY! Disney World is our favorite place- we go every year!We went at the end of June 2006. My sons were 3 and 10. It was really hot so we got an early start and then went back to the hotel for lunch and a nap. My 4yr old loved the shows!!!! We were only able to manage 1 park per day then dinner and swimming and relaxing. We tend to have to take it slow.
I was really worried that my 3yo would have a difficult time w/change of environment and so much stimulation. At the time it was thought that he either had ocd or aspergers. Turned out that he did fantastic. But when he got tired we had to end the day and go back to the hotel.
We took walkie talkies to communicate and my 10 yo and ds would stay longer in the parks.
It was great. Epcot was not our favorite for the kids. Magic Kingdom really could have used 2 days. The Rainforest Cafe was our favorite restaurant....
Oh yeah, Downtown Disney made a nice change of pace. They had some incredible Lego sculptures. Also, alot of lifesize statues of the disney characters so we could take pictures of the kids w/ the ones they did not get to see in Disney.Ok, last night was very hectic and we were exhausted. We went down to the restaurant to eat because the kids eat free and by the time we got our food, ate, and got back here everyone was exhausted.
This morning we are off to Magic Kingdom & Hollywood Sudios (which use to be MGM) My husband thinks we can cram epcot & animal kingdom in today as well. I say hahaha I don't think so. Because we are only here a few days, and he wants to cram in as much as possible.
On another note, you asked if I was going to let Trent be med free, he was med free yesterday for the entire drive and he did do fairly well, but then when he didn't, he really didn't. So I don't know yet. We will have to discuss that when hubby gets up.
Anyway, the kids can't wait to get to the parks. So we'll see how it goes. We haven't been here since they were 6, 3, and 1. Which was very difficult. :) Because my daughter was 1 and she couldn't stand the heat at all. But on a plus note yesterday it was 87 when we pulled into the resort parking lot. The resort is pretty nice, the room is pretty decent size. The kids have their own smaller partition room with bunk beds & a toddler bed, we have a king size bed, and then a small kitchenette & a big bathroom :) Ok I rambled again. I'm off to shower. Check in tonight if I'm not worn down. :) Have a great day.
oooh! I am going week after next during spring break. I think I am going to give my son a med break...are you planning on it? I figure its disney world. why not have him have the run of it? Unless, I find my self running after him..then..well.thats a different story! We have decided that everyone has had a really rough last year, so we are taking the kids to Disney till the weekend. We will either be home friday evening or saturday. Not sure yet, depends on how the week goes. So if anyone posts to me, just keep bumping it for me. I'll try to get on at night, but no promises as this is going to be complete family time. The kids are so excited, especially Trent. He is begging to go see Playhouse Live to see Handy Manny :) Should be fun. I'll have pics when I get back if anyone wants to see. This is just what you need! Have fun!! mamark39518.134525463
