it's 1.2-1.8 mg X kg. So she is 49 pounds = 22kg. So her dose range is 26 - 40 mg.
Strattera's website has it on there and all dosing information.
Diane V39519.1266087963She could go as high as 40, and may need to. Where do you find dosing info. I know it goes strictly by weight but other than my doctor telling me, I don't know how to find out. Thanks! I will call the doctor to see if the dosage can be increased. My 8 year old who is about 50lbs just started taking stratterra. Our doctor gave us sampes--one week at 18 mgs and three weeks at 25mgs. Does this sound reasonable? How soon should we see benefits? We started with Focalin XR for three weeks and my son kept saying "I just feel so angry and I don't know why". We're not seeing this with the Strattera yet anyway. You should starts seeing improvements within 6-8 weeks. But 25 mgs is kind of low for 50 lbs, she would probably need to go to 30, before 3 weeks. Thanks edbson. Six weeks is a long time to wait for results. I was hoping to see improvement in two weeks like the strattera pamphlet said. My son's teacher is going to give me feedback on Friday, but I guess I shouldn't hope for much. This is his second week on strattera.caringmom 6-8 weeks is optimum results, you should see some benefit before that. We saw good results at 2 weeks and then it settled back a bit so we were sort of where we were going to be at the 6 week mark. Are you saying he doesnt feel better after three weeks or no anger?Diane V
Thanks for your response. My son was feeling angry with the Focalin XR that we tried first. This was a side effect of the med--this was unusual behavior for him. He was on Focalin XR for 3 weeks and then our doctor switched him to strattera. He is on his second week of strattera. He hasn't complained of anger since we switched to strattera. My son is inattentive only so he primarily has issues at school.
CaringMom39519.5718402778Oh yeah 2 weeks on Strattera isnt really enough, unfortunately. Give it the time you need, it's a med worth giving it the full time, unless of course you are seeing side effects. Get to target dose and give it the 6 weeks. My daughter is mainly inattentive also, but she has issues all around, the 24 hour coverage of the Strattera has been good for us, plus no mood issues, for us, on it. Good luck, I hope it works for him.
