Should I share IQ results with school? | ADHD Information
No.......I would not share it unless it is to your advantage to. If she is performing well below what her IQ level shows she is capable of, for example, you might share it if you are negotiating services. Do not fall into the trap of thinking you might want to share it with them to "disprove" some hurtful or casual comment her teacher may have made implying she "just isn't smart enough". Clearly your child is doing well, so that isn't the case here, but you'd be surprised the number of parents who disclose this type of sensitive info just to prove a point. I would disclose this info only in the right circumstance, and only if it is to your advantage to do so.

okiemom39520.4606481481Thank you, ladies. You all make perfect sense. (As always!) Dd recently took an IQ test given by an independent psychologist. She
scored in the average to above average range. I have a copy of the report.
Is this something the school should have as well? (DD has ADHD and is in
kindergarten. Academically she is right on target if not ahead of her peers.)
Just wondering if you all would share this info with the school...Thanks!
I wouldn't see the need to share unless they were undervalueing her talents and trying to put her in classes below her level.
Is there a reason that you think they need to know?
KidsInSpace39520.353287037I gave the school the results of my son's tests because they were thinking he wasn't learning anything due to inattention and were pushing for drugs. In fact he already knew what they were "teaching" him and he was bored in class. When they saw the figures they changed their tune. If it will help your case, use the test.
