has anyone taken child to neurologist? | ADHD Information

i just want to make sure the appt is thorough(sp?), some of the drs here are'nt great and i've never heard of the neurologist that he's going to, so i just wanted to see if i need to ask things or what tests etc he might do. the test that the ot did showed visual discrimination and visual form-consistancy and visual closure were 3+ deviation below average.my son 8 has an appt next week with a neurologist, i have no real idea what a neurologist does or what the appt is supposed to accomplish. so for those who have taken their child to one, what did they do at the first appt. and what was accomplished by seeing a neurologist. my son is being sent to the neurologist do to his fine motor delays that have been regressing for 2 yrs now and some tests that his ot gave him, he had a 3 point deviation in some tests give to him.

We did in the beginning, but he recommended a Neuropsychologist to do the actual ADHD evaluation.

A neurologist is a Physician who daignoses and treats disorders of the Nervous system,  including diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles.

i was wondering what type of exam they do and/or what tests they do. to find the reasons for delays. My guess is he's being sent to one because of the regression.  Your ped undoubtedly wants to get to the bottom of that.
