support group | ADHD Information

You can expand your add by saying A group for parents of children with ADD/ADHD and other LD's for example.

See if there is a Chadd chapter anywhere near your area.  There may already be a group established.

We live in a town of 800 people.  There are 19 kids in the whole 2nd grade.  A small school is great in some ways but it also makes it hard for my son to find friends.  He's immature for his age just like most of your kids.  I appreciate the support I get from this board and am thinking about finding a central place to meet and start a support group.  There must be other kids like him in the surrounding towns.  Also, our ped is leaving the area so I would like  to connect with other parents and see which doctor they use.  Now here is what is probably a dumb question...If I put an add in the paper do I have to say that I am not a doctor or something?  Should I call it something else? Anyone have any experience with this? Advice?  Maybe I should post this somewhere else?

What a great idea! When I lived in New York I started a group called "Meeting Other Mothers" or MOM. So think of a catchy title and put your ad in the paper with an email address and/or your phone number. If you don't want to go this route yet, talk to your pastor and see if you can start a group in yor church.

You should have a plan for your group and a small list of what the group is for, when you will meet, the topics that the group hopes to cover and whether or not children are welcome with parents. These are ground rules and you can add what you feel you want to cover or the purpose of the group.

Best of luck!
