Concerta meds not working!! | ADHD Information

I agree, at 15 they know what and when they feel better. If she's got coping skills already to help, no need for the meds. Meds are just one of the tools to manage symptoms, not the solution.Has anyone had an issue where your child has been on meds for over 2 yrs but no noticable difference. My 15 yr old says the meds causes loss of her appetite, plus she says she is not "herself on the meds. The biggest thing is she has been struggling still with her focus in school, not handing in work etc . Right now she has been off her meds for about 3-4 weeks and she actually seems to be more productive in school that when she was on the meds?? So I am wondering what is the problem??? Why should she be medicated if there is no real progress? i am new to the forum but I have gotten a lot of good info already since I have been lurking. SHe is probably old enough to know if the meds are working or not. I would let her stay off them if she is happier and doing better off.
