As most of you know Trents been going to Sylvan, well on monday night while at Sylvan he did good. As they always tell me. So Tuesday I call her to tell her what time the appt for the meeting is and she says I'm so glad you called. I have something for you when you bring him in tonight.
It was a sheet of paper and he wrote his entire alphabet FROM MEMORY. He left out 2 letters, he mixed up WU and wrote Z backwards. It took him 30 min to do it, but I don't care. So I told his teacher and gave her a copy of it. and She said I don't care if it takes him all day, if he can do it thats wonderful. She said that is awesome.
So maybe he is learning something from them afterall.
The other piece of good They are sending a rep to the meeting on April 1st with me to speak on Trents behalf.
I am happy for you and ouch! the amount of money. I also know money spend helping our kids is worth anything.oh absolutely. i would do it all over again. BUT only if their policy were different. i would never again EVER pay someone hr to tutor my child for an hour and my child only actually get 20 min of that hour at most. no way no how..... especially when you think you are paying for 1 on 1 tutoring.
anyway i'm excited that he is gaining thats a plus. I'm still a little nervous about the meeting, but at least i know i will have people there in my corner with me. and i know more of what to expect now.
Fantastic!!!!! It's so great to hear about good news.
My son's psychiatrist mentioned Sylvan learning as a place he could go to learn study skills - he's 14. Do they teach study skills?
Ofcourse, convincing my son to go is another story.
I'm sure they do, but honestly I would not recommend them. I have had really bad experiences with them. They have my now 6 yr old paired up with 2 high school kids. They say because the high school kids needs less time then he does. so it works out. but in my opinion thats wrong. not only am i paying them an hour, so are the parents of the 2 high school kids. and its sad enough these kids only get 20 minutes of that hour with the person. because the hour is divided by 3 kids. but then she pretty much tells me that the high school students get less time, because they can work on their own? is that what they are really paying for though? i don't think so. i know i'm not.
It is very expensive and i would definitely recommend finding him a personal tutor. A teacher or someone who will do it on the side to help him. Lots cheaper.
Thank you so much!! I wonder if the psychiatrist knows this.
You saved me some $$$. He has a math tutor now and she is from his school - a teacher in his grade and only chargeds .00 an hour and she comes to the house.
brtsqd, good news!

wow what a great surprise. I'm jealous. :) Can I go. haha
That's wonderful hope you all have a wonderful time. Good luck. Hope you catch a bunch of fish.
