My son started on 30mg of VyVanse and is now on 50mg. He is doing very well and I hope we will be able to stay on this. I don't like the thought of doing the whole 'trial and error' thing when it comes to drugs. I guess we just got lucky that the first one we tried worked for him other than the dosage was to low.
Every child responds to each med differently so you just need to discuss it with the doctor and see where to start. Good Luck
meds for add? I'm not necessarily going to have him put on them, but I definitely want to consider all of my options. All he has done today is fight and scream at his brother. When we call him on it, he just screams & cries.
We tried him on straterra last year and it just wasn't a good fit for him. Part of me thinks he might have a little bit of odd, but I'm not really sure. Will definitely be talking to the dr about it.
I can't get them into any physiciatrists or psychologists around here cause they aren't taking new patients, so I called and I can get them one through the state, BUT there is a waiting list. I guess they have more patients then they do psychiatrists so we are on the waiting list now. Who knows when it will be. My sister in law has had her son on the list for 2 months and still no contact so who knows.
My son started Concerta 18mg 2 months ago and we haven't had any trouble aside from reduced appetite. I have been VERY happy with his behavior, focus and attitude. No problems here.

We have tried (in order) Strattera, Concerta, Vyvanse and now back on Concerta.
Each kid is so different and acts differently to medication. What is right for one is might not be right for the other.
I'm happy so far w/ Concerta this time around. Last time around it didn't seem to work, don't know what changed.
We are also on Concerta, 18 mg....started in December....We have had little
problems with it....even the appetite is back to normal.....Had a little sleep issue
when first started it but it soon went away.....in all we are very happy with it.
We take it every day .....tried to go without on weekends but it didn't work out....
School is finally not such a big hassel and home is so much more calm....
We are hoping things continue this way.......
