Yes, she is at target dose and yes she has a behavior plan. She gets great services at school. Special ed classroom for reading and math, an aid with her most of the day, OT, PT and Speech. Her classroom teacher and special ed teacher are both excellent with her. Without these supports I would have to without a doubt put her on stims (even given the side effects).
I feel like I've been posting a lot here lately and am being redundant but this is such a great place to get feedback!! My 7 year old DD (extreme ADHD) was doing wonderfully on focalin, taken off due to tics and weight loss (tried about 5 other stims which caused same side effects -- some worse than others). Now on Strattera which is just OK (not great but better than nothing). I agreed with dr. that we would ride out the year on Strattera and re-evaluate over summer. Well, report cards came out on Friday and although her academics are ok, her behavior grades have gone down causing me to ponder this issue once again. Do I give the stims another try (vyvanase?) or just be happy that her academics are ok and the teachers are dealing with her in a positive manner (good communication, they seem to really love her -- she is very bubbly and charming but LOTS of work!!). Any feedback would be great -- I keep flipflopping.....Is she on the target dose of strat? it is dosed according to weight, not symptoms. just had to pipe in...............we're in the same place.............we are sticking it out with Strattera only, I cant do side effects any more. Does she have a behavior plan in place at school?
