How do you stick with it? | ADHD Information

We found Daytrana took a couple of weeks to "settle in". My daughter had some side effects in the beginning, most subsided by the second week. She never regained her appetetite though. If you're still seeing all this inconsistency the end of week 2 call the doctor and you may need to go up to a higher dose. We have had our ups and downs with Daytranana- just got ped. to increase dose to 15mg from 10mg. It's seems top help. We found old medication took a couple weeks to get used to also. we stuck with them and are so glad we did. DD has had besty school year yet and homefront is also better. Not perfect but very manageable. side affects with patch vs. metadate - not as bad a rebound on patch, better appetite on patch- still trouble getting to sleep at times if we don't remove it till 4:00 vs. 3:00 or so. When she does get to sleep it is a sounder sleep vs. previous meds. I am having a really hard time. We just started our very young son on Daytrana 10 mg. He is experiencing up and down behavior, sleeplessness and no appetite. However, I have had a few 'a-ha' moments that tell me the focused, wonderful, happy child I know is in there somewhere. Are these symptoms normal for week one? Part of me just wants to run to the doctor and change medicines or dosage. Am I crazy? Is this just part of the body adjusting to new drugs, or should I be seeing a perfectly transformed child overnight?

Thanks so much for the support. We are sticking with the 10mg dose for now. I have a dr appt Thursday-so I may ask about uping to 15mg in a few weeks if things don't improve.

Has anyone experienced times of excessive talking and pacing with Daytrana? My son is doing this in the middle of the day (about 5 hours into the patch). It subsides but kind of freaks me out. Again, maybe just getting used to the med?? All comments appreciated...
