OVERDOSE?I know, I know with the cutting!! We were just desparate and the doctor approved it. Still, I know, I know :) We actually got some 10's and tried them yesterday. Our son's teacher said it was like he was not on anything at all. The adhesive was exceedinly hard to remove. I called Shire and reported it. They offered to send me 40 free-so there must be issues. We are waiting for some more 10's to come in and then we will for sure know. I think an oral med might be better for him tho. Why aren't you using a 10? You need to try that, if that is still too high, this med isnt going to work. This is part of the difficulty medicating this young, you are probably going to have a hard time finding something just right. Try the 10's, but if that doesnt work, you probably should go with regular Ritalin, it comes in 5mg pills, and they can even be split to start him at 2.5. You cannot cut the patch into 5mgs. You are not supposed to cut it at all!@ Get the 10mg patch and try it, or change meds. Daytrana is a 12 hour med, so it shouldn't be wearing off, it sounds like he need an oral med. Need help...my son, almost 4 and 40 pounds, started the daytrana 10mg patch about a week ago. We are actually splitting a 20mg patch in half until we get the right patches in. He is talking excessively, pacing and highly emotional throughout the day, not eating at all and sleeping is disturbed. Does this sounds like too much medicine? He is so tiny, maybe 5 mg would be better? I know it is not based on weight, but still...any help appreciated. ALSO-in the evening when the meds have 'worn off' (after rebound from hell) he has his best calm, relaxing time. What is that?? Residual medicine dosage better than his actual? There is a big difference between an OD and just taking too much.
Who says it is not based on weight? I do not know of any medicine that the dosage is not based on weight! |
