Concerta vs Focalin XR vs Ritalin LA | ADHD Information

Focalin caused terrible tics for us and Concerta was not good with side effects, AT ALL (one of our worst). We really like RLA, but like horsemom's experience it didnt really last long enough and with rebound (excessive silliness) we had to add an afternnon booster. For us, it was much smoother and fewer side effects than the other 2 though. My daughter gets side effects from all stims though so dont go by us.

We sprinkled Metadate on everything under the sun for 4 mos. We liked it's effect but my dd took 45 min. each day to get it down. That may have been some sencory thing- hope to find out in near furture. Currently she is on Daytrana and we have had good results, she doen't mind wearing it and usualy remembers to remove and dispoe of it herself @ 3-4 p.m. each day. We've seen very few side effects, some insomnia but I think that was related to eating chocolate too later in day, had some rebound issues but that has improved with higher dosage we stared about two weeks ago. each person reacts differently I guess. Concerta can't be sprinkled.   I know that Ritalin LA can be and I also think Focalin XR can as well.

We have used all three of the above and Daytrana as well.
Daytrana - Tried it for 3 days.  My daughter hated it and I thought it was a hassle.  She didn't like the fact that I woke her up to put it on her and then she said it didn't work very well.Focalin XR - Tried if for a couple of day and my daughter hated it too.  It made her tics worse.Ritalin LA - we liked, but didn't last long enough.  50% of the dosage is released initially.
Concerta - We are currently using it and like it.  The initial dosage is only 22% of the dosage and the rest is released through out the day.
The other to consider is Mededata CD.  I think it can be sprinkled (we have never used it so I don't know for sure). It's initial dosage release is a little higher than Concerata, so morning coverage is said to be better where with Concerta you get better afternoon/evening coverage.

I know it is different for every child, but what is your opinion on the best of these options for a young child? We are currently on daytrana with results that vary from day to day (not happy with that).

Something we can sprinkle is crucial, so are all of these sprinklable?

Any thoughts appreciated...
