our doctor recommends giving breakfast with the medication if possible and i've been told & have read to avoid milk (i.e. no cereal) 2 hours before/after medication.
My son is also on Concerta and complains of his stomach hurting off and on. I have found it to be one of 2 things when he complains.
1. It has usually been a while since he has eaten. Once he eats, his stomach feels better.
2. You might check to see if he is a bit constipated. I know stims can cause some kids to get a little constipated. There are many times he complains his stomach hurts and then about an hour later - he has to use the restroom (if you get my drift). I added a fiber pill to his daily vitamins to help keep things regular.
I also wanted to say that my son has been on Concerta about 2.5 months now. In the beginning we had eating issues, and taking longer to go to sleep issues. Both of those issues have gotten better with time. He eats decently now, and I bought a white noise machine and put in his room at night - and he sleeps better.
Hope this helps!
