Isn't it awesome?! We went to the aquarium shortly after my son started meds and it was the first trip that he wasn't practically running past all the exhibits. He atually took his time and looked at the fish, and didn't want to leave each exhibit until he'd found every fish that the sign said was in there.
If someone had told me 2 years ago that we'd be able to have even an occasional trip out of the house that was pleasant I would never have believed them.
before our adhd dx and starting meds 7 wks ago, shopping with our son was a nightmare...."i'm bored", "can we go home now?" he would roam away and touch everything or just act like he was on a playground.
twice now i've taken him to the stores and it was heaven. he stayed right beside me the whole time and never complained once. he actually took the bags off the counter as i paid the other day and carried them to the car. the saleslady gave me an appreciative smile and i was bursting with pride.
people don't realize how these little daily activities can be so difficult and how a little gesture like helping mom means so much to us.
