Do any of you have experience with the drug Metadate? My son has Down Syndrome, his Dr. just prescribed it, but I have not tired it yet. Any info would be great.

Medadate was the first medication that we put my 6 year old son on. We did not see any positive behavior changes with the medication. We had a lot of issues with loss of appetite and sleep issues. He was on it for about 2 months before we decided it was not the right medication for him. However, with that said every child reacts differently to different types of medication. We found that for our son, stimulants did not agree with him. Thanks for the info. Not sure what I will do yet.

WE CHOSE THE VYVANSE OVER THE ADDERAL BECAUSE IT LASTS LONGER AND HAS LESS SIDE EFFECTS. HE ALSO TAKES ZOLOFT FOR ANXIETY AND MELATONIN FOR SLEEP. GOOD LUCKThe moodiness is very likely from the Adderall wearing off and not from the Strattera. My son had been taking Adderall XR but we discontinued it because he became so moody and aggresive has it was leaving his system. We now give my son just the Strattera and we know longer have the rebounding problems. Started Adderrall was having bad bad rebound...not sleeping. Doctor added Statterra...first 10 now 15 mg at night. She sleeps well, but the yelling and moodiness...it's hard to take. The Statterra doesn't seem to be helping her and it's been 1 month now on it. I am thinking possibly is there another med that can be taken with Adderrall XR at night...a different anti-depressant possibly? She gets very loud and screams and basically goes a bit nuts at night before bed and as the Adderral leaves her system. Any ideas? Thanks so much! Kim a ot of peopele use Tenex (Guanfacine) for this. Others have swicthed to Vyvanse with success, it lasts longer than Adderall XR. The too low dose of Strattera may not be helping matters either. Strattera doesnt come in a 15 so are you sure it's not 18? That is still kind of low and could cause the mood swings. What is her weight? she is probably on 18 mgs Strat( since it doesn't come in 15mgs). It is dosed by weight, so is she weighs more than 10 or lbs it isn't going to help at this dose.
Strat at a too low dose will cause moodswings etc, so it sounds like the dose is not right, and she needs to be ramped to the proper dose for her weight.
Her target for weight is 26-40 mgs, so she could go higher. You knwo what, you are right...
She's on 15mg Adderrall and 25 mg Statterra. I had it backwards.
She's 7 weighs 50 lbs. So I think the Statterra dosage is corect for her weight?
We go back in Tues and I like to have facts when I sit with the doctor to discuss.
