What is combined type ADHD? | ADHD Information
I have a 7 year old son with ADHD. What is combined type ADHD? both hyperactive/impulsive and innattentiveAs Dad said it is a combination of both the hyperactive and the innatentive types of ADHD. My son has both, as well as SID (Sensory Integration Dysfunction). usually when you are saying in addition to you would say coexisting or comorbid condition. Combined type is in relation to their ADHD traits as Da in Akron points out. Combined would generally be inattention with hyperactivity and/or impulsivity.
Combined could also be depression, bipolar, autism, etc. - anything else in addition with ADHD.
My son has sensory and speech delay, but also has some anxiety, along with adhd.
I thought ADD was the kind where its focus and ADHD was the focus/impulse/hyper?they just have it all under ADHD now then they subtype it.ahhhhhhhh...When my son was diagnoised it was ADD and ADHD..thanks for the FYI!Thanks to all for your input. Yeah, it all falls under ADHD now. I don't know if you've read my other topic, but I am a special ed teacher and I have a few kids with ADHD. Its just they say, D has ADHD w/hyperactivity or J has ADHD without hyperactivity. Thats how they label the kids now a days. All I see in my son is the hyper part... that's what is driving me nuts! But I do notice that it causes him to miss out on pieces of information and at times he doesn't pay attention, but it's not like he zones out.
But again, thank you to everyone who is helping me learn. Although I am a teacher (it's actually my first year) and it is so different when it's your own kid. In school they teach you the main issues associated with each disorder, but they don't go so in depth as I would like. It would take forever really! So this is part of my learning! Thanks to all who are helping me on that journey, for the third time!
