Spring Break and no medication? | ADHD Information

Share

My daughter has been on Concerta 18mg since late January.  I do not give her med to her on the weekends.  My concern is her being off for a whole week.  With not being in school, she seems to be more irritable in the evenings.  Yes, that is with giving her the concerta. I didn't give it to her today, so we'll see what Brenda says on her behavior. What does everyone do about administering med's on spring, summer, and winter break?

we took our kids to disney for spring break back in march, and i let my son go without one day and it was so hard on him. he was trying so hard to be good, but you could tell he just couldn't control himself. so i wont be doing it anymore.

i'm not sure about with concerta, i've never had any dealings with it. sorry i know i'm not much help. but i'm sure someone here can help you. good luck.

We do meds full time.  It is just too hard on him to go back and forth.  He calls his ADHD "the crazies" and he definately knows when he isn't on his meds, and he doesn't like it.

We've always done meds full time, no breaks. Now we use Strattera so no breaks on that anyway. Thanks for your replies.  I wasn't sure what to do since I'm new at it.  My daughter was on Strat for 3 months, but she had severe meltdowns every evening. I always do the same no meds on weekends and nor for school breaks.  My Pediatrician just told me to give her the med 1-2 days before school resumes to get it in her bloodstream however I usually forget and it makes no difference teachers never say anything.

This the quote from grandma, "She was very loud and hyper".  "She ate ALLOT and seemed to not be able to slow down".  This was one day off.  She is on a Stimulant.  I'm not sure if your daughter is on Straterra or some other none stim.  You usually can miss a few pills with a non-stimulant.  Stimulants are not typically 24 hours. Concerta is out of her system in 6-8 hours.  I promised grandma tomorrow morning I would give it to her.
