starting adderall xr what to expect?

well i took the full dose of 10 mgs of adderall xr this a.m. about 2 1/2 hours ago and the only thing i noticed is that i feel more relaxed and i did not bicker with my cranky hubby this a.m. when i asked him why he was cranky his a.m. he snapped, "I AM NOT CRANKY"! he thought i was doubting his intelligence about measuring the yard for rock when all i was doing was talking to him about possibilities.

still i have to think on how to spell a lonnng word such as "possibility", lol.  i have a hundred things i want to do today, this is one of them and we'll see how many i get done.

Why did you open it up and sprinkle half on food.

It's only a 10mg capsule. Adderall XR is extended release (5mg works right away, and the other 5mg starts working 4-6 hours after that) so you are only getting 5mg at a time when you take the pill whole.

If you hardly sprinkled any on your food you are probably only getting 1-3mg of meds at a time. I'd be amazed if you could get any benefits or side effects from such a low dose.

Sounds like you are super nervous about taking the medication, maybe it's a mind over matter thing. You're so nervous and are expecting a bad reaction so you are having one. Kinda like when they test new drugs and give one group a placebo or sugar pill while the second group gets the real med. Lot's of times the sugar pill users experience side effects or benefits just like the folks actually taking the med. The mind is amazingly powerful we can convince ourselves of just about anything.

Definately monitor yourself and make sure you call your doctor if you have a bad reaction. This might not be the right med for you. It's possible that you are very sensitive to this drug, so the small amount of the med you took could be making you sick.

My advice would be not to over think it. Take the med tomorrow and forget about. If you are nervous before hand or dwell on waiting for it to work or not you can't possibly get real results.

my dr. gave me a prescrip for 10 mgs adderall xr.  today i opened the capsule and sprinkled about half on the food.  i don't really feel much of anything but kind of sick to  my tummy when i eat something and i have a slight headache too.

not sure that that little bit can do anything really.  probably only took about 3-4 mgs and not quite half.

tomorrow i want to take the full thing so i can just get going on it and see if it is going to help me or not.

what can i expect to feel if it is going to work?  i am really curious to know how i might feel different...good or bad?

thank you for the help!  i sprinkled only half on cause i am super paranoid of any drugs even the lexapro i was taking i started on only 2.5 mgs, lol.

ok...tomorrow i will try the whole thing..i did not know that only half worked at a time!  i do feel better though, my mind feels slower and not so flighty.

maybe the effects were just nerves.  i even took 10 mgs of inderal (propranol) and i take that every day anyways for blood pressue so that may helped to calm me down some.

i just feel more relaxed and even the dh said i seemed more calm today....any other info you can give me on what to expect  as for as what i should feel?
