strattera and what dose for a young child | ADHD Information

Is there a 20mg pill?

no, you'd have to give 2 10'sug ok...I just made the appt for 4/30 so I will see what she says. School is please thus far. I was not going to share with them but they were saying he was "too busy" and "too distracted" in a class that size so I told them I was tryuing to help with that and they have been very supportive. Now if I could only get it in a yummy chewable!

Strat is dosed by weight, so it has to be at target to work. His target is 20-30 mgs, so 18 is a bit low....I would move to 20 mgs( 2/10mgs) asap

It takes a while to see results, and you won't see optimum until he has been at the taret dose for a few weeks.

good luck, DD did well on it.

Hi all,

Anyone have a child under 5 on strattera ? WE were on 10mgs and rampled to 18mgs 10 days ago. So it's been almost 3 weeks. Some good signs but we need to reach that 4 week mark the doc says to see how he is really doing. My questions is.....if you have had a child on this (DS is 3.5 and 40lbs) what was the dosage??? I know all children react differently but just checking.....I like the non stim part, we tried add xl and weoooooooooow it was a nightmare for us unfort. So we are ok with what he is on but I am just curious about the dosage! Thanks as always!

Hi

His dose range is 20mg-30mg. So he may need to go to the next dose up of 25 for good results as 18 is kind of low. Strattera is tough because it is so dose dependant, but only comes in so many different doses.

Good luck!

Thanks Diane! I see the doc agin in 3 weeks so I may ask for another increase if I think he needs it. I just did not want to seem too med happy or that I am not giving it a chance or that I did not know what I am talking about......hahahah whcih I don't half the time but I get by!
