Ritalin is the first med used for adhd. It is very commomly prescribed for adults. Metadate and concerta are forms of ritalin.
However, if you are possibly bi polar the adhd meds could exaserbate the bi polar symptoms. They need to be taken care of first.
Just curious, but I got a consult last week with Psychiatrist. Doc said we could try to treat what could either be ADD or bipolar disorder. No definative diagnosis. He gave me Ritalin. Stuff works from what I can tell but 20mg of Ritalin 2x / day really changes the outlook.
I see many meds here but not much about Ritalin. I tried the search function but, well, it sucks. (may be over inundated with searches)
Thanks!
sofaking39553.8914583333 I agree with granny Fran, bi polar should be handled totally different. I guess hyperactivity or ADHD could look like the 'mania' part of bi polar, but from what I know very different. Sometimes I wonder if some doctors just start throwing lables out there "Yes, from what I can tell from our 5 min appointment, you have bi-polar with a touch of ADD, OCD, and mild sleep apnea...." he,he sorry ~ Anyway, if the medication works then your stoked. I would look into therapy of some kind to really find out what is going on, and learn more about it. This is a great site to learn from experienced people. I wish I found it years ago! God bless!
