I need helpful books or programs

Has anyone used or heard of any helpful books or programs on ADHD?  Has anyone used "Unlocking The Gifted Student Inside Your ADHD Child" program by Tom Daly?   I would appreciate all of your advice and suggestions and your stories are all so very familiar.  Thank you! Luvmykids0239554.820775463

I'd start from the library with anything by Russell Barklay.

Be very careful about what you find on the internet.

I agree with adhdtrisha. There is no "solution" and no "cure" for adhd. While
I am unfamiliar with Tom Daly, I would be wary of any program that may
promise to fix or cure ADHD (or anything to that effect) When my daughter
was first dx'd I read everything I could get my hands on. Real education
from knowledgeable people is empowering.    DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.   Just as if your child had the measles, go to the appropriate Dr. and have him or her help you find the appropriate treatment plan.  In my opinion, if your child has ADHD (I can't speak for ADD- as my son has ADHD) you can try diet changes, behavior modifications, etc. first, but in reality, once my son was on medication, it was a big help.  Changing his diet and changing his environment did nearly zero when compared to medication.
The psychiatrist can also help you by pointing out books/programs that are successful-and cheap or free at the library.  I was advised to read a book titled "Driven to Distraction" and it was somewhat helpful.  In reality, there is a lot of information on the web as well.  I would be VERY WARY about any sites whose whole or main purpose seems to be anti-medication.  Many times it is motivated by people who do not have any experience with ADD/ADHD and instead have religious or other reasons. (Or they have heard of someone who takes meds and doesn't need it-or they think due to the ingredient being a stimulant it is merely like giving your kids cocaine or something.)  Between your Dr. and the school psychiatrist they should be able to point you in an appropriate direction.
I hope this helped.
P.S.  There are a lot of books at the library for free.
