Strattera--Big Hype, Disappointed | ADHD Information

Oh Condi I am sorry the Strattera didn't work for you, it was been a God send for our son.  He is 9 & after 2 months we found that 60mg was the magic #.  Perhaps you did not give it enough time.  It took the full 6 weeks before we saw it really work for him.

How long was he on strattera?  It can take a few months of the right dosage to start working.

New anti-depressants have not been too effective.  Wellbutrine is a good place to start. The older tri-Cyclics, such as Imipramine, have had a good track record.  Do the research, there is a ton of valuable information online.

My first grader was diagnosed with atypical absence epilepsy and ADHD.  His small seizures are controlled.  He takes tripleptal for seizures and tenex and strattera for ADHD.  The strattera simply does not work and he is having major problems in school.  What works on the market control for impulsivity, effectively.  The small seizures are under control.  Is strattera the only nonsitmulant medication on currently in the market for ADHD.  The seizures limits what he can take.

since he has seizures it puts a great limit on what he can take.  My daughter takes Clonidine to slow her down a bit and help her concentrate.

Dixiepeep38329.5407523148Antidepressants are used very often when people can't take stimulants. Welbutrin is usually the first choice but I've heard of people on lexapro, effexor, depokote and a variety of others. There are a million possible meds that could help unfortunately it's a trial and error system so you never know what will help.
