Liquid med, starts with m, question | ADHD Information

Hi, my friend just put her 8 yr son on his first adhd med.  All she can tell me is that it starts with a m and is a liquid.  I did not want to press her (both her boys have alot ot stuff going on right now), but I would like to figure out what it is to continue to help/support her.  Her son most likely has the adhd innattentive type, but she is new to all of this and her son's response after 2-3 days has not been noticeable.  Appreciate any input on this.  Sounds like Methylin, generic liquid Methylphenidate( Ritalin). She needs to give it at least a week or two, then speak to the psych if there is no change.
