Parental anxiety | ADHD Information

I don't know what your question is, but if you're looking for others in your shoes...I'm with you! I think many of us suffer from anxiety and other issues due to the fact that our lives our never 'calm'.  I, too, suffer with anxiety and it is very hard to deal with.  I hope that your medication can get smoothed out to aid your anxiety and also your ADHD...count to 10 before making any kind of statement during the 'stressful' moments.  That helps me, too.  HUGS!

Thanks- there was no question- I just wanted to share as I know so many others here have a lot of worry. Certainly anxiety medication isn't the answer for everyone, but I am hopeful that it will help me be a better parent and to deal with challenges in a more effective manner.  I just wanted people to realize that if they have excessive worrying that gets in the way of everyday life (it was for me- I was having trouble sleeping and was feeling nervous often) then you don't just have to suffer with that- maybe a doctor can help.

I'm with you...If we could afford it, I think my dh and I both would see a counselor and I would be on anxiety meds!!

I hope it does help you, I'm also learning as I go...Best of luck!

Quick summary: I have ADHD, I have 3 kids. DD12 ADHD, DS11 ADHD, DS5 ASD/probably ADHD also.  In the last 2 years I have become increasingly consumed with anxiety over my children.  I was/am often 'on edge' and quite irritable and short tempered with the kids.  I decided to go to a psychiatrist for myself.  She recommended that I try an anti-anxiety medication.  I have been on it for 2 weeks and I have to say I feel somewhat better.  My mood is more even and I have dealt with issues in a much more calm and sensible manner than before.  Unfortunately I think it has made my adhd a little bit worse, I will talk to her about that in my follow up visit.
