ok saw the dr today we are moving his med to night time for now. if it still
continues another 2 weeks then we are off. Matthew who is 6 was just put on Strattera 2 weeks ago. He has thrown up
twice and always the same time. 11:30. He also I have noticed gets very
tired all of a sudden and gets nauseated. not always throwing up. he gets
white and off a little. Then he seems to bounce back. We also give him his
med at 7:30 in the morning. is it better to give them at night. I need help.
Please and need advice. What are your thoughts?

Giving it at night can help with side effects tremendously. What dose was he started on? Is he ramping?

He should have been started at 10mgs, and ramped slowly to his target, according to weight. IF he was started higher that is possibly why he is having problems.

Another option is to use a split dose and as you ramp increase the evening dose until ramped and then try switching to mornings once his body adjusts to the med. We saw some tiredness during the ramp period, but my daughter is on 60mg per day and now takes it all in the morning with no issues.he is on 25mg. maybe he just needs to get use to it. I have been told also that your not allowed or its bad to open the capsule
and dilute it or anything?

he may, and giving it to him at bedtime will allow him to sleep through the side effects until his body does get used to it.

What is his weight? Did he start at 10 and ramp up to 25?

No, you cannot open the capsule. If he was started at 25 mgs, then that is why he is having problems, for a 6yo of average weight that is probably target dose or higher. He is 64lbs but he is also 56 inches high. How do I go about giving him the
med at night? Do I just dont give it to him in the morning but then give it to
him at night? is it a easy switch?

his dose is actually kind of low for his weight. At 64 pounds his dose range is 35-52mg.

If I were switching to evenings I'd skip the morning dose that day and just give it to him in the evening, and then continue with evenings from there. Call your doctor.

I am calling the Dr today. But needed to see what you all thought. He nly
gets a morning dose. I gave it to him today if he gets sick again then I will
change it to night time or until I call the Dr. If this keeps up I will take him
off. But I am seeing some good things from him. So I am keeping my fingers
crossed. Thanks good luck. We're pretty happy with it too.
