Heartbroken | ADHD Information

Hi All.
I posted my problem under Matthew and Strattera. Now I am left feeling
confused and heartbroken. Seems like the red flags are warning me to take
my child off. With Depakane and Strattera it seem to be a huge warning that
they both cause or can cause liver damage. Seems like I am only asking for
problems down the road. I am so heartbroken because I have seen some
bonuses from matthew and hope of learning. Also he cant go o any other
ADHD meds because he cant be on stimulants because of his Epilepsy. We
had seizures with Ritlain. Just seems like we get some hope and then the
med turns on him or the risk is to high. Im sorry Im crying at the moment
and cant focus. I dont know what to do. my prayers are with you. please discuss it with his dr before just taking him off of it. maybe his dr can offer you some advice or suggestions.

maw4670- Please don't take your son off any medication or even lower his dose without speaking to your doctor. Know that every child does not have problems with the liver enzymes elevating on these meds. Tell your son's doctors your concerns and ask him for lab work on your son every few months to keep an eye on the enzymes etc.

This is why the forum here is so valuable. It can teach us to be proactive in the care of our children and teach us to ask for lab tests, side effects etc.

I know first hand how upsetting all the information and misinformation can be when all we want is the very best for our children. Be proud that you are such a caring and proactive mom for Matthew!!!
