I called our ped on Monday and begged to be seen this week. I told him that things have went from bad to worse. I guess he could hear my desperation so he agreed to have us come in and get the process started. I feel like I should prepare some sort of list or something to take with me. Am I over thinking or is it a good idea to sit down and write out some of the problems we are having?
Also I bought the book From Chaos to Calm--I'm about 100 pages in and all I can say is wow!! It made so many of my son's behaviors make more sense. I am even more certain now that we need help from some professionals.
Is this the first visit to consider an evaluation with a Psych? I would definetely bring a list, you don't want to forget anything. I made a list of things I wanted the Psych to know, and questions that I had....worked for me.Jakob's HeadStart teacher and I have already filled out questionaires. We saw the ped about 2 months ago with these. He said that he does believe Jakob has ADHD and to come back closer to his 4th birthday to get him started on meds. No one at the ped's office has said anything about a psych eval. Should I request one first before we start meds?
Great News! Yes, most definitely make a list and take it with you. That was you wont get so overwhelmed with everything that is being said. Write down questions too. I'm so proud for you.
Let us know that happens!
I would definitely ask for a referral to a pediatric psych. Our pediatrician referred us without even asking and it was the best thing to do. We also see a therapist to help us handle our childs behavior. This is just my opinion. Good luck with the ped.
