Ritalin and irritability | ADHD Information

I first started w/ Adderall XR 10mg. It worked great, but as time went on, it lasted less and less. I was also drowsy, so I asked my psychiatrist to swtich me to something else.

So I was switched to Focalin XR 10mg. Did not like it at all - it kicked in too strong and left too early, then the 2nd delayed release kicked in and lasted for a short period. I was VERY irritable within 2 hours of taking it, and I had rebound, then when the delayed release kicked in, I was irritable again and rebounded again. I wasn't sure if the irritability was due to the rebound or the med.

So I'm on a 3rd one, Ritalin LA 10mg. I know Focalin is just a purer form of Ritalin. But it confirmed that it makes me irritable.

Today is the first day on Ritalin LA. The irritability kicked in after the jitteriness wore off, about 2 hours after taking the med. It subsided about an hour later. It's been OK, but it's the same as Focalin - makes me kind of a zombie...

I was only on Focalin for 5 days. Should I give Ritalin a few more days to see if the irritability subsides? I would go back to Adderall if it wasn't for my insurance not having the XR on their "preferred" list, so it'll cost me /mth versus for generic Ritalin LA (I would have to up it to 20mg though).

Thanks!
