Cod liver oil??? | ADHD Information
Does anyone know if cod liver oil capusles help with the symptoms of adhd? I have started taking them now and I wonder if they'll do any good?I have not been eating proper food for about two weeks now and I'm starting to feel lethergic etc...does fish oil help adhd?
I thought Cod-Liver oil was long ago debunked due to the blood thickening and toxicity problems. You would be better off eating fish a few times a week, or at the very least take fish oil (from salmon).
I buy frozen orange ruffy and eat it with rice 3 times a week. It's tasty and healthy. When I'm in Japan I eat fish almost every day, want to or not ;-(
Now I'm back in the USA I have to make myself eat fish.
i've been taking fish oil/flax seed capsules for about three weeks now
and i pretty much feel better all around. I'm not sure about add
symptoms--probably not so much since i'm in the middle of studying for
finals and drifted to this message board...
i've heard not so good things about cod liver oil though, it contains
mercury or something so you have to be extra careful with it. I
ordered a sample of coromega from their website because it looked
interesting, but it hasn't come in yet. the only problem with
fish oil/flax pills is that you have to take so many to supposedly see
results. I take about 5 capsules of fish oil daily and 3-4 of
flax.
also, when you start taking omega-3s you're supposed to take other
vitamins as well that work with each other. vitamin e especially,
but with vitamin e you're also supposed to take vitamin c.
so, i figured it was worth a shot, i should be taking vitamins e/c
anyway, and a multivitamin, but now i take A LOT of
supplements--fish oil, flax, vitamin e/c, multivitamin. add that
to the ritalin and it's borderline excessive...
i wanted to take it mainly because it can relieve depression, i've
always had mild depression but not something i personally felt
warranted a prescription.
a good book to check out is the Omega-3 Connection--by Andrew Stoll i think.
hope this helps
