Vyvance side effects | ADHD Information

I have been taking 50mg, sometimes 30 mg. Nasty mental side effects include, depression, paranoia, mild schizofrenia (i spell it right??), thoughts of suicide, sadness, as well as succumbing to bad habits and loss of self control. I REALLY HATE my medication, i think i said it somewhere else, it creates the problems it is supposd to solve. I didnt take my medication today, and i concentrated better and felt happier in school. I was able to do my homework and focus on the teacher, my mind still flip flops, but i honestly dont believe that my ADHD is bad enough to require medication, especially with those side effects i feel.

How long have you been taking it?  my daughter had a rough time sleeping initially, when we started thismedication.  i would wake her up really early (5 am) and give it to her, so that she could get to sleep at a decent time.  i gradually moved the time of day to 7 and she has adjusted just fine.  also, is it possible that the dosage might be too strong?  i also would recommend that if you take caffine to stop.  i know that it makes a big difference with me (adderall), i don't drink caffine after 2 or 3.  i also found a long acting melatonin that does help me fall asleep and stay asleep.

btw, what are the "pretty nasty mental side effects"?

Aside from some pretty nasty mental side effects, the biggest physical issue i have with this medication is that i can sleep. I can stay awake until four o clock in the morning after going to bed at ten, and only enter a period of deep sleep an hour or two before i have to wake up for school. My mind is okay, im not drowsy, but i just wish i could get some real sleep.

Anybody know how to fix this problem?

Otis,

you need rest. You desperately need to talk to your MD about how the med is making you feel. I agree with the earlier post. Meds should make you life easier, not harder.

Good luck. Don't wait before making that call.

just my two cents.  these medications should help improve your quality of life, not make it more challenging.  if any medication is giving you paranoia or thoughts of suicide i would contact your doctor, a teacher, a parent, or a friend asap.  No medication should make you feel this way.
