poor little guy!! lactulose WILL clean him out...just so you know I am a pharmacy tech ! Maybe stick around the house!
Good luck!
yeah thats what we are doing. he's taking 15ml twice a day for 7 days. he said it shouldn't take 7 days though. he should be good by monday. but he has to see the gastroenterologist and have behaviour modification because otherwise he will just continue to hold it. :(
I pray something helps because it can't be easy for him to focus at school with this going on.
Yeah, I agree, Lactulose will clean him out, especially if taken with Ginger ale. That's what they give you before a colonoscopy. Stick around the house, it should(will) work within 24-48 hours, but sometimes within 4 hours. ALso, make sure he drinks plenty of water. We were told by my son's doctor to use mineral oil along with whatever my son would like to drink...slush, shake, milk, water, diet coke...whatever way we could get it down... 3 to 4 oz 3 times a day for 3 to 4 days. Trust me when I say it helped my son tremendously.
ok Trent's had 3 doses so far and has not gone anymore since the 4 small amounts yesterday day. :(Is he not going because he can't ( encopresis), or because he doesn't need to?
With Lactulose he will go if his body has something there to go.
well they said his entire track or whatever was completely full. and i know what it was like the last time he was 3/4ths full and he couldn't stop going for 4 days straight. But with this lactulose he only went 4 times very small amounts and it was still solid. but he hasn't gone since then. I would give the lactulose a little while longer. It can take 24-48 hours. ok thanks. i wasn't sure. i know with the mag it wasn't instant but it was the very next day. it just worries me that he is so full. i'll give it till tomorrow and see if anything happens. A little bit of MOM works well also. He never went at all yesterday. I guess I'm just going to have to try something else, because this stuff isnt working at all on him. :(
