Wellbutrin’s Effectivenss for ADHD? | ADHD Information

I don't know about wellbutrin for childrn.  I do have an adult child who takes it for adhd.  Like the trycyclic that I take, it helps, but is not as effective as the stims.

Something is better than nothing, no?

My now 11 year old daughter has taken Wellbutrin at a 75 mg dose since she was about 8 years old.  It was prescribed to her as an addition to her Adderall XR to improve her ability to focus.  It seems to have helped her, and she has suffered no ill effects from this medicine. The doctor thinks that our 8 y.o. son w/ ADHD should try Wellbutrin. and we are writing to solicit views on its effectiveness/side effects.  (We reviewed the prior posts but there doesn't appear to be many on the subject, perhaps due to the fact that it is considered a third-tier drug in terms of effectiveness.)

Our son has tried the stimulants, as well as Strattera, but the side effects of those meds (i.e., severe anger) required that we stop them.  Our son has been off meds for approx. 1 month and, although he is much happier, his behavior at school has plummeted and it's clear he needs biological intervention, if there's anything that'll help.
