Get an interdistrict transfer to another school for next year, and stop telling the school staff that you think your child has ADHD.

What kind of things are going on at school? Has the teacher ever said anything about his behavior before? What made the dr think your son has adhd? Do u think he has adhd?Sorry for asking so many questions I am just trying to get some background. lethy proud mom39574.1958564815

I would start with an evaluation by a Psychologist, or Neuropsych, to find out if he actually does have ADHD>

I personally would never tell a teacher if my child "might" have something....puts a big lightbulb oer their heads so to speak

I've been in your shoes .. see my posting on whether to tell the school or not with meds, a similar issue. I agree, they start to view normal kid behaviors as ADHD behaviors if they suspect your child may have ADHD. Very frustrating! It's a tough situation and I think whether you tell or not depends on the teacher. I still lean toward not telling because of these types of responses from teachers. Maybe try a meeting with the teacher to explain you don't want normal boy behaviors blamed as being ADHD nor do you want over-reporting of every little thing your child does. If that doesn't work, try meeting with the principal. We really are our children's best advocate. Good luck! hello to all.  my name is  Alisha Fonseca. i am a mother of two boy. my oldest is 9 and has adhd. he is on meds and is doing great. but my 6 year old. just went in for his 6 year check up and his doctor thinks he has adhd. so as a mother i thought that it was only respectful to inform his 1st grade teacher about what the doctor and i talked about. his doctor chocie not to put him on med right away.  and ever sence i told the teacher it seems like there is this big sign over his head that says i have adhd and you need to watch every move i make.  i know my child is not an angle but he is not the type to just come up too you and hit you or kick . please help. if anyone has any ideas on this. im open to try anything .           ;           ;           ;  thank you          alisha
