which medication works best for you? | ADHD Information

I'm on Adderall XR which works great for me.

If Ritalin was so great for you before why don't you just go back on that or Concerta. I know for me it took so long to find a med that worked I wouldn't want to worry about messing around with different meds unless mine stopped working for some reason.

What medication works best for you?
I am doing a mini survey for myself. I don't have any insurance so the cost
comes out of my pocket. I am on Strattera 40 mgs now. Works o.k. except
for the loss of appetite and tummy ache. My doctor wants me to try
Adderal XL and Concerta and let him know which one works best. I was
on Ritalin successfully for 6 years but got off of it because of all the stuff
you have to go thorugh to get it. I just got tired of it all. 10 years ago
there wasn't that many options for ADD. Now there is so many. Too many
choices for me. Seeing that I can never make up my mind.adderall XR is approved for use in adults, and I have heard it works well.  I was on ritalin, which worked well, tried stratterra with no effect, ritalin LA, which barely worked, and am now trying metadate CD, which is better but expensive.  I may just go back to regular ritalin.  I have not tried adderrall.  good question, and good luck.

Reboxetine, which is the only other Selective Norepinephrine Inhibitor besides Strattera with none of its side effects.  Man, this stuff gives you unlimited energy, which is totally opposite of Strattera, where I could barely stay awake.  I only need 6 hours sleep on Rebox whereas I was sleeping 10 hours a day before I started taking it.  The side effects of Strattera felt like I had been poisoned.  I can barely tell I'm taking anything on the highest dose of Rebox.

As you may know, meds work differently for every person, so what may work for one, may not for another. However, I personally prefer adderall xr and quick-release. I find that I stay my bubbly self, my appetite is the same, and I am more productive. Methylphenidate products work well for me (except for concerta.) However, I find that adderall is still my preference. If you don't have insurance, then I would be tempted to advise against adderall xr and concerta. Both are expensive and don't have generics (I believe they are the most expensive stims for ad/hd, at least they were a few months ago.) I wish you the best of luck! I'm on Ritalin LA I've been on it for a month I think it's wonderful,( I only take it once a day) but I believe without good insurance it's costly. I was taking Ritalin 3 times a day for the last 10 years.
