Good news! | ADHD Information

Have you ever had to tell your child to stop writing and go to sleep?!
Neither had I until yesterday.
When my daughter came home from school she had written a full notebook page, in quite neat handwriting, of a creative story! This is not an assignment, just something she decided to do. Last night she wrote another page (and I had to tell her to stop writing and go to sleep), and this morning she wrote a third page before school and started a fourth in the car! She read some of her story to me and it sounded pretty dang good.
I am amazed!

If anyone else has good news to share this week, please do!

My son got his first "good note" home from a teacher yesterday. It is the first one EVER and he is in 4th grade! I was so thrilled to get the note, but its SAD to realize that it had never happened before!

I had an IEP meeting with my son's preschool teacher (through school district peer model program) to discuss transition to kindergarten next year. She said he has made amazing strides and she considers him one of her peer models now. I just couldn't stop smiling during the meeting. I hope he can do as well in kindergarten in the fall!

Well besides from getting the report on cj today from the ot, which was not so great, by the way. Some good news came out of it. The ot wrote a letter to my sons teacher telling her that punishing with removal of his recess time for not being able to write well was not a good idea. that instead she could be lowering his self esteem over something that he has no control over. he is almost 6 and has motor skills of a 4 yr old. The ot also said that children with adhd shoul not have thrir recess removed because they need this energy release. hopefully she listens. yeah
