thanks to all of your for your nice replies...i really appreciate it.  i spoke with the principal this am and she was NOT aware that we were not called last monday when the incident took place.  needless to say, she was not happy with the teachers involved.  it doesn't excuse my dd's behavior though...but it would have been easier to discuss the incident right after it happened.

oh, parenthood.  we see the pediatrician on thursday and i will ask for ritalin LA to be upped.  from there i will schedule an appointment with a child psychiatrist, i want to make sure that we are doing all that we can for her, etc.

thanks again!

I agree with the others, why not a dose hike 1st? If you are happy with the med?

good luck

Hi Shelley, if it were me, I'd increase the RLA first. You like it and it works so why not stick with it and try a dose change first.

As far as the others, people have had success with both Concerta and Daytrana. We preferred Daytrana as dd had terrible side effects from Concerta, but did ok on RLA. Everyone is different.

Hi Shelley,

We have had similar calls or notes "after the fact" from school and aftercare about behavior. We've tried to impress upon all concerned to let us know imiediatly-- not a week later of any mishaps. The "her side of the story " is all too familiar to us, and without being there to witness incidents firsthand,  we sometimes give our daughter the benifit of the dout-- sometimes- not always.   We have found that even just a day later, in our daughter mind it's ancient history and she can't understand why we're confronting her with past behavior.
RE: med changes-- we changed to the patch from metdate several monthes ago and have had good results-- not perfect. Currently we are thinking it may be time for a second  dosage increaseup to 20mg from 15mg, started at 10mg.-- way too low. We hate too increase as mydaughter is sleeping well and eating well albeit eating like a horse in evening after very little food midday.
Good luck.

our dd just turned 11 and we have never had any issues with school behavior until this past month.  she and a friend decided to "skip" out of social studies and venture here and there in the school building last month.  ie. help out in the library, etc.  they got a day suspension in the school for this, each in separate rooms where they had to write apology notes to those that they didn't tell the truth to in the halls as to where they were headed and what they were supposed to do, etc.

i get a second call today from the principal, she went to the bathroom and was in there awile?  ran into a friend who was headed to the nurse for something...and went there with her instead of going back to class.  when she was confronted she lied and said that she was in a certain bathroom, which she had been previously, but the teacher started yelling at her and her version of the story is that she never got to finish her side of the story.  anyways...half day suspension tomorrow.

i got the call assuming that this took place TODAY.  the principal never told me that it happened last week.  eeeccckkkk!  i'm not happy about this for one.  i wish the teacher who "busted" her would have taken the time to call me when this did happen.  my dd just told me tonight while we were talking that this happened a day last week.

anyways...she's been on ritalin LA 20 mg for a year and a half.  i've been thinking that it hasn't been working to the best for her and now this, i'm certain that it's time for a med change.  she's not making good choices.  we tried adderral before the ritalin LA and that gave her huge issues with sleep.

she sleeps and eats well on the ritalin..would you recommend just upping that to see what happens.  what have you all learned from your experiences.

concerta?

vynanse-i'm not sure the ped with write an rx for because it's so new.

the patch?

just looking for advice.  i'm not used to school calling...and i'm not liking it either!
