DS Psychologist is leaving. | ADHD Information

FOUND OUT YESTERDAY OUR PSYCH IS TRYING TO SET UP A SATTELLITE OFFICE HERE BECAUSE SO MANY OF HIS PATIENTS ARE FREAKING OUT AS WELL AS THIER PARENTS. SO MAYBE GOOD NEWS AFTER ALL.My son's therapist is leaving his firm and the area in a few weeks. My son is devastated. I am not sure what to do as it took a long time to find this one. I feel bad for him and funny, the therapist says he didn't need anymore therapy, he was doing great, but my son feels more comfortable with it right now. Maybe they have someone there who can take over so to speak. I am not sure how this is going to go he is already acting out and full of anxiety.This happened to me.  Many times they do not want to renew their contracts for one reason or the other.  Mine did this when I got my symptoms under control, (different reason for going for me) but still needed some additional work.  She said all was well and signed me out, so to speak.  It took me forever to get a new therapist.  I would not allow him to just "fly"--you know if he needs assistance or not.  If you disagree, fight it and ask for a new therapist.  They may not be as good as the one you have now, but at least you have something.
