Vyvance- severe tics | ADHD Information

Share

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this same situation. My 16 year old daughter was prescribed Vyvance in February. I gave her a 30 mg pill and 30 minutes later she started severe tics that looked like a gran mal seizure(I don't know if I spelled that right). Anyways, it occured for 40 hours, and we took her to the hospital to get medications that would loosen her muscles so that she would stop twitching. After that experience, we thought it was over forever because we assumed it was an allergy to the medication. However, has had two more episodes since then. She said that when she took the original medication, it felt like someone hit her with a hammer inside her head at the base of her brain.

My question is: is it possible for a medication to create brain damage in the basal ganglia that is malfunctioning and producing these symptoms??

Or, has anyone else out there had these types of symptoms from medication?

I would not think the Vyvance could cause the damage, BUT it is possible that an underlying brain disorder could cause ADHD symptoms. Even in someone diagnosed very young, it could be a result of another issue.
