I remember I lost almost 30 lbs the first month I took adderall. Partly because I had no appetite and partly because the first two weeks I took it I probably sh*t out about 15 pounds. LOL gross I know but after the first two weeks the diarhea disappeared and after the first couple months I made sure I ate after the meds wore off so I haven't lost anymore weight. It's been 4 years on the adderall and I've been able to maintain my weight with little effort. I think most of the weight loss with these drugs is during the adjustment period. After that you just need to alter your old eating habits to compensate for your lack of appetite while on the meds.
15lbs in a month? Wow. Was that because of not eating enough due to decreased appetite?jonathan
Well while my son is ADHD and taking Concerta, I am also 26 years old ,with ADD. I am also taking concerta. But I have experienced weight loss. It's part of it. But you should really talk to your prescribing physcian about taking that much concerta? Keep me posted.
Hi butterfly, I'm also 26 and was recently diagnosed with ADD. I just started taking Concerta yesterday, and I was just wondering how you feel about it. I have had a low grade constant headache today, and couldn't sleep at all last night. Also, I noticed that I'm not getting hungry as much as I was. I'm just kinda scared about the long term effects, but all the research I've done says they don't know what the long term effects will be. I will be starting medical school in February and my doctor thinks this mediciation will make it much easier for me because I had an awful time trying to focus and get things done as an undergraduate and my grades suffered. However, I can't afford to let my grades suffer in medical school so I really hope this medicine works. I'm just thinking it doesn't seem easier to concentrate when I have a headache.
Hello, I'm new to these boards. Well I'm a 15 year old currently taking concerta with a dosage of 54 mg. I've read a few threads on this forum about weight loss and I'm concerned. Is there any solid proof that concerta or any other meds cause weight loss or stunt growth? Also, occasionally on days that I have a big test I will take 108 mg of Concerta. It helps me concentrate much much better. I know this is stupid and its a bad habit, but are there any permanent side effects that would be induced from taking that much?Well while my son is ADHD and taking Concerta, I am also 26 years old ,with ADD.
