Thanks for the replies. It worked great!

Normally, I would ask my son's doctor a med question, but I'm afraid he won't get  back to me in time for tomorrow...

My DS is on 15 mg. of Daytrana. He normally gets about 10 hours of coverage, not the "up to 12 hours." Well, he will need it early tomorrow for an event, but we have a late event tomorrow as well. Basically I want to know if I can safely give him his Daytrana at 6:15 a.m. (so it will be working by 8:15). If will probably wear off at about 6 p.m.  Before we began Daytrana, he took 5 mg. of Methylin. Would it be o.k. to give him the Daytrana, then about 6 p.m. give him 5 mg of Methylin to give him a few more hours? I know they are both Methylphenidates, but am unsure of the effect if they were to overlap slightly.

Thanks for any advice.

I would remove the patch before giving the booster dose, at least 2 hours before. He will still be covered and have about an hour overlap. I should also add that once I remove the patch, it is supposed to last another 3 hours, but that varies. It is supposed to be worn for 9 hours. So, I will apply the Daytrana patch at 6:15 a.m., remove it at 3, then give him the Methylin about 5. Does that sound good? Thank you.I would do it. I have done it actually. We didnt get three hours coverage once the patch was removed either.
