more than one child with adhd? | ADHD Information

I was wondering is there any one who has more than one child with adhd. My son 8 has been diagnosed with adhd, but its my daughter, who is 6 that I figured had it. We have never had her tested, but as time goes by I wonder if she still might? I'm kind of leary about testing her though. I guess I'm afraid that people will wonder if I'm just using adhd as an excuse for bad parenting. If that makes sents to any one. She just is always hyper and has a hard time in school with her behavior. And lately I've noticed she has a really hard time with her impulse control. Her grades are okay, but could be better. She is going to summer school this year. I would like to hear any ones opinions or advise.ADHD is hereditary, so it makes sense that families could have ore than one child with ADHD, and many many do.

I have two boys with ADHD.  My 9 year old has the inattentive type ADHD and also Asperger's.  My 8 year old has ADHD and if very hyper and has mood swings, everything.  I have been doing a lot of reading and I am starting to wonder if I have it too.  I got my 9 year old tested after my 8 year old after learning more about ADHD.   Its okay to have your daughter tested too then you will maybe find some answers.  Its not bad parenting

I have 2.  DD 12 yo and DS 8 yo.  My dd had trouble learning to read and the teacher said she couldn't teach her so we had her tested.  My ds has always been hyper (since in the womb) so we ddin't have him tested until he couldn't control himself at school.  I think I always knew about him but my dd I just thought was a easy child (never had a problem distracting her from things I didn't want her to get into).  I haven't told anyone about my dd except the school nurse at my dds request.  She is on Daytranna but only at school.  She has some social problems but I think she is starting to work them out.  I am trying to give her some social lessons at home.

Good luck!

My youngest is adhd way hyper impulse control etc.... Around the time he was 4 and my oldest was is 3rd grade my oldest's teacher's asked me if I have had him evaluated for adhd.  I was in denial because I had this out of control 4 year old and a pretty calm (at the time to me) 9 year old.  But in learning about my youngest's adhd I opened my eyes to my oldest and saw what I didn't see before.  He just isn't hyper like my youngest he is more a disorganized focussing type.  You can only help your daughter by getting her what she needs to succeed.I have two children, a daughter with ADD and a son with ADHD.  I understand how you feel - been there, done that.

I come from a family where all  3 kids were affected ADHD. My 2 brothers also had learning disablities (dyslexia), so no one noticed me.  I have 2 children, only my son is ADHD. I knew something was up from the time he was a baby. I had him screened at 4 and was basicly told I was a bad parent. The pediatrician diagnosed him during a visit at 7.

From my research,  80% of ADHD is inherited and the other 20 % is due to multitude of enviromental factors.
