My son (8) is taking Medadate and we are not really seeing too much of a difference. His doctor was thinking of trying Concerta. Anyone have any luck with it? Or bad luck with it? My son is very implusive and he is also can be very angry and frustrated so it is hard to help him when he has more than just one issue to deal with. He can break things or throw things when he is mad or upset. He had a really bad first day of summer school yesterday.

my dd is on concerta and it's working wonderfully for her, she is doing well in school, the impulsive behavior is gone(only on meds) no side effects exept decrease in appetite at lunch time, but she makes up for it after school and eavenings, she loves how she is on meds, once i forgot them and she had told me never to forget her meds again, she hates the lost of control she has over herself, and is much happyer now and so are we :) Concerta, like Metadate, is Mehtylphenidate, Concerta has a different release, and is much smoother IMO. DD takes Concerta, and has been doing really well on it. just to play devils advocate, my daughter did terribly on Concerta.....twice.....but is doing wonderfully on Methylin ER (generic metadate), this is different than metadate CD though.HI MY DD HAS BEEN ON CONCERTA 18MG A DAY SINCE THE END OF JANUARY. I'M THINKING OF CALLING HER PHSYCHIATRIST BUT WANTED TO GET SOME FEED BACK ON HERE FIRST. IS THAT MEDICINE WEIGHT MANAGED OR BY SYMTOMS. SHE SEEMS TO BE OFF THE CHAIN, HYPER LIKE NUTS, ETC....BY MID AFTERNOON. I'D SAY ABOUT 3:00....
