Proud Moment | ADHD Information
You are making me cry! How awesome! This is sort of ADHD related - it's special needs related.
My 8 year old son attends school with a severely autistic child who is mainstreamed.
Yesterday my husband took my son to McDonald's during the day, and there were tons of kids on the playland. This autistic child was there and some kids were making fun of him. Two mothers came up to my husband to tell him how special our son was. Here's what happened.
Our son noticed the autistic child, Brandon, and went up to him and put his arm around him and greeted him. Then, he went around to all the kids in playland and introduced him as "This is my friend Brandon." He wanted to be sure everyone knew him and that he was included in playing.
The women began to cry when they were telling my husband how much that made an impression on them. My son gets picked on some or is misunderstood by his peers because of his ADHD and other existing conditions, so he knows how important it is to belong and be accepted. He's compassionate anyway, but I think his ADHD situation has made him even more so.
I'm so proud of my son. And, we haven't told him about the women coming to compliment him - he just did it as a normal thing, not because someone was watching!
I am proud of your son and you! Your son would not and could not be so compassionate if he did not learn it from you. Kudos to you both!!
what a sweet heart. Your son truly "gets it". He also knows and understands what it is like to be on the receiving end. Your son will succeed in life!
Congratulations! You should be proud!!
That is so great!! What a great son you have!!!

, boy THAT'S a great story. Thank you for sharing. You must be bursting with pride, good for him....................

Life would be so much easier if there where more children like yours. Good job mom and dad for raising such a loving child. Be sure to tell him how proud we all are of him.
