Canada - Disability Tax Credit | ADHD Information

Share
I had posted a topic on this a couple months ago, but I can't find it, so I thought I'd just post another one.
Background.. we were told to apply for the Disability Tax Credit in Canada, because our DS has some symptoms that make EVERY DAY life a struggle for him. I had asked if anyone had ever applied for it , or received it for a child with ADHD, so that I would know if I was chasing a wild goose. lol

Well, we sent in our first set of forms and the CRA sent more forms back to my doctor asking for a little more information about my son's symptoms. We got that sent back in, and found out yesterday that we were APPROVED!

So, I just wanted to make it known to any people on here who are Canadian that depending on your child's symptoms, you might be eligible too.

We were approved because our DS .. must be supervised more than another child his age, his condition affects his peer relationships, he cannot dress himself ( he physically can, but requires us to coach and prompt him, and even then, he gets shirts and pants on backwards and it takes A LONG time), he cannot follow directions appropriate of a child his age, he cannot make age appropriate decisions and judgements from day to day (crossing the street safely, playground safety), he requires an excessive amount of assistance to perform routine activities.. those are the main ones.

It's not a large amount of money, and it's based on income, but you all know that sometimes, even a little bit helps.
