I am a 49 yr old male that has mild ADD that I have managed to cope with fairly well. I'm organized, finish projects at home etc.
But I can no longer focus or hyper focus on technical work. I do anything at work to avoid it by leaving my desk.
I just tried adderal and it does not work and keeps me up at night. I have not slept since sunday night. and was only on 5mg.
Can anyone in the same situation share their med experience.
thx
programmer39624.2770138889I understand what you are talking about. I tried adderall when I was first diagnosed about a year ago, but I have been on Strattera now for a while and it works wonderfully for me. It isnt a stimulant and has no amping effect at all. I am a medical transcriptionist and I work from home. I am paid on production and if I cant focus and my production goes down, then naturally my paycheck is directly affected. You know, this is still a problem for me. Mind you, it is MUCH BETTER than it has been in years past, but from what I have read some aspects of ADHD are still going to remain to some degree or another. I am resigned to the fact that focus or the lack thereof will always be an issue for me. Truly, it is a nasty struggle and, in my eyes, a big fat curse. Perhaps you can talk to your doctor about a different medication? I wish I could offer more uplifting of a response, but at least you are not alone in your struggle. Sorry.
