Advice on stimulants?????? | ADHD Information

My son is taking Strattera because he has tics and his doctor didn't want to prescribe a stimulant but I am starting to think the Strattera isn't working the best.  He is doing better in school but having mood swings and tantrums really bad.  I have read some articles that stimulants can help.  Any suggestions on a good stimulant?every stimulant works differently on each child, unfortunately there's not way to know ahead. My daughter also gets tics from stimulants and is currently taking Strattera, but supplemented with 10mg of Methylin ER twice a day....not tics....no side effects at all actually, and she is dong well. We may actually drop the Strattera in the fall once she is settled into her new school for the academic year.My son had tics before starting his meds in April...they may be a little worse since then though.  What does Methylin ER help with?it's methyphedinate, like Ritalin. My daughter took, Concerta, Ritalin LA, regular release Ritalin, Focalin, Daytrana, Adderrall, most gave her tics and increased anxiety. We are not seeing that with the Methylin. I'm not sure if it's because the Strattera is keeping her anxiety down, but she seems "good". No los of personality, no loss of appetite her focus is better, inmpulse control is WAY better, a bility to stay on task is better, not "in a fog" like when unmedicated. All ehr ADHD symptoms are decreased. The Strattera is allowing us to keep the dose low I think that is helping. we see a littel rebound, but very tolerable. Each methylphediante is different as the the fillers are different as is the release and each child will react differently.Ok thank you for the help.  I wonder to if he has tourettes or bipolarworth investigatingYa hopefully we will get some more answers
