Metadate cd - Son is 9 on 20mg ?sss | ADHD Information
My son is 9 1/2 weighs 52 lbs and is on 20 mg in the am. It does not seem to be working. Can anyone tell me what their children are on regarding Metatdate cd and when they are taking it. Did it decrease their appetite? He is still bouncing off the walls and just a little change in his appetite. He was on Daytrana and then he started acting a little odd so we changed. He has been on it for 2 weeks now. Should I wait a bit longer before asking for a higher dose and if so when and how much higher? I don't want him to be a zombie but I want him to get ready for school soon and be on the correct dosage. How long should I give it? Thank you.
Metadate CD is an extended release form of Methylphenidate, that same med as Ritalin, etc. It can affect appetite, but the dosage depends on symptoms, not weight or age. He may need an increase in dose, or a med change altogether, you will know whan the right dose/med is found.
If it has been 2 weeks I would definetely speak to the Psych about it not working.
