You could be suffering from anxiety which is common for ADHD'ers but it wouldnt hurt you to get a complete physical to give you peace of mind. Good luck and keep us posted.

Are you sure it's over your heart? The heart is like an inch below your left nipple. Anyway, it's a common problem and I'm fairly sure it's muscle tension, not your heart. There are a lot of muscles in the chest area and Ritalin makes then tense.

With some people (I'm one) you get a painful sensation in your chest and back. Some people get a sore jaw, etc.

Hi everyone, this is my first post here.

I recently started on Ritalin and have had some strange side effects. As far as treating my ADD it has been a godsend. But when I take it I often get this dull ache over my heart. Sometimes I'll feel it in my back, directly behind where my heart is. The pain is not bad at all but its more of my paranoia about having chest pain.

I got freaked out one night and went to the ER cause I thought I was having a heart attack. The doctor took an EKG and said that my heart was completely healthy.

Am I being paranoid or could I be damaging my heart? Oh and also, this seems to happen at any dose.

Thanks in advance for your help

brimelow38334.8027546296It's a common problem but that doesn't mean you can ignore it, it just means it isn't a heart attack. Well I guess I'm not really sure that it is over my heart. Its too dull of a pain for me to tell. But its nice to hear that it is a common problem as I don't want to stop taking it.

Thanks so much
Lee
