Strattera causing vomiting | ADHD Information

Hi,

My 6 yr. old son (46 lbs). has been taking 18 mg. of Strattera in the a.m.
and 10 mg. in the afternoon. He has been on this dose for several
months. All has been fine except for the occasional
feeling of nausea if I give him the medicine when he doesn't have a
completely full stomach. Lately, for the past week he has thrown up 4
times when I've given him the morning dose. I've tried to make sure that
he has a full stomach and that I give him the meds about 45 minutes after
he's eaten. After he throws up and has something to eat he's fine. I'm
planning to contact my doctor for advice, but he's on medical leave and
it's going to take some time before another doctor can get back to me.

Has anyone had this experience before? If so, what did you do about it?
My son cannot take stimulants and Strattera has been the only thing that
has helped so I'm so nervous if we can't continue for him to take it.

Thanks for your advice.

could he maybe take it all at night?

My daughter takes 60mg of Strattera and you're right, she needs a FULL stomach to avoid nausea. She still occasionally gets it and it seems to come and go. It's so sporadic I was starting to wonder if maybe it wasnt the Strattera, but I think it is.

I would give it when he eats, instead of waiting. DD had less nausea at first when she took it while eating.

I agree with taking it all at night, that may help too.
